　　I am not a brave girl, I am afraid of losing face in front of my friendsand parents, so I always let the chance go and refuse to try. Once, I have achance to take a performance in the Christmas show, but thinking about if Iperformed badly, all my friends would laugh at me, so I gave up the chance. Butnow, I am tired of letting so many chances to go, I want to try, after seeing myfriends take all the chances to try, I am not going to be the outsider all thetime, I want to live my own life and make some differences. People say failureis not terrible, the unforgettable thing are to lose the courage to try and thenmaking all kinds of excuses. Let’s take out our courage and do what we want todo.

　　I have found mine a good many times. Sometimes this was expected--often itwas unexpected. I know a man who is not afraid to sleep with a rattle-snake, butyou could not get him to sleep with a safety-razor.

　　I never had the courage to talk across a long, narrow room. I should be atthe end of the room facing all the audience. If I attempt to talk across a roomI find myself turning this way and that, and thus at alternate periods I havepart of the audience behind me. You ought never to have any part of the audiencebehind you; you never can tell what they are going to do.

　　Hemingway often thought of courage as a person's ability to be calm andcontrolled in the face of death.His theme is presented in his novel "For Whomthe Bell Tolls?" the story "The Old Man and the Sea" and in our textbook "ADay's Wait".By misunderstanding a different thermometer the boy thought he wasrunning a high fever and would soon die.But he took his death bravely and waitedquietly for it.The boy showed us he had courage.

　　I think such a definition of courage is far from enough.Courage should notbe limited and related only to death.In ordinary life there are common thingsthat also show a person's courage.For example,on a bus trip,a thief was tryingto steal a girl's purse.Some people saw it,but kept quiet.They were afraid to berevenged by the thief.The brave stood out and stopped the thief.

　　Courage means truth and justice to me.The person in a high position oftenhear songs in praise of him.Some people are sincere.Some are only flattering thesuperior in their own favor.The leader also needs courage to welcome criticismas well as those who have the courage to criticize him.Such courage may comefrom mutual understanding.I think a man of courage will value truth andjustice,and not hesitate in his actions to do what he thinks is right,There isno such word as fear in his dictionary.

　　Forrest Gump showed so great courage in the movie that he touched me a lot. For one thing,no matter when and where Jenny got into trouble ,Forrest Gumpwould bring her out of it without thinking how dangerous the situation would be.Maybe we should all fell ashamed that we love ourselves more than we love love,but Forrest showed great courage in love .For another,Forrest gump risked hislife to save Bubba in the war.It’s courage that helped Forrest gain a series ofhonor after war .Forrest Gump is beautiful for his perseverance and touchesothers with his courage.

　　A person can’t do without courage in terms of love and friendship ,letalone life . A weak person may avoid the difficulties ,but a person with couragewill face up to it head-on. Therefore,let’equip ourselves with greatcourage.
